The Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 8 You Have Been Waiting for is Finally Here! PanGu 8
Windows had its iOS 8.1 jailbreak fun for a while now thanks to the Pangu tool on PCs. Macs will soon be able to join in the fun, according to the Pangu team’s latest tweet. In a couple of days, we’ll see a version of the Pangu tool compatible with OS X for all those living the iLife. There aren’t many details beyond that regarding what time exactly it will make its way to us in two days or if it will even be in English. Though having some sort of iOS 8 jailbreak option on the Mac for iPhones and iPads is better than not having one at all.
How To Prepare For The iOS 8 Jailbreak Pangu Tool On Mac
At this point we can’t be sure exactly which version of Apple’s OS X operating system the tool runs best on. In the meantime you’ll want to make sure everything on the iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch side is good to go. Knowing that iOS 8.1.1 removes any chance of jailbreaking, you’ll want to be on iOS 8.1 precisely -- not a version higher or lower.
How to Jailbreak:
First, download PanGu 8 from https://en.pangu.io/
When it comes time to follow through with the actual jailbreaking process on your iOS 8.1 device, you’ll want to make sure you’ve taken all precautions. If the Mac version of Pangu is anything like its Windows counterpart, you’ll want to be sure the passcode is turned off and Find My iPhone disabled during the process. After jailbreaking, you’ll be able to switch them back on (folks had trouble with this in the past but ours has been running with Find My iPhone/Touch ID enabled just fine).
And, as always, back up, back up, back up. Please say you do that anyway -- jailbreak release or not. It’s nice to know that Pangu and Cydia have resolved many of the issues users once faced, but always better to be safe than sorry.
The Pangu tool for jailbreaking iOS 8.1 came as a surprise to many. When iOS 7 was released we didn’t see a jailbreak from Pangu until the holiday season. Having the iOS 8 jailbreak come out relatively near the release of Apple’s latest operating system took many by surprise. Sure Cydia wasn’t 100 percent ready to be used, but we got there thanks to Saurik. Many tweaks are still being updated to support iOS 8, but we’ve seen quite a few others that are new-OS specific. Tweaks like UntetheredHeySiri and Upscale show there are always new ideas to be had with every new hardware and software release from Apple. Who knows what great Cydia tweaks the iOS 9 jailbreak will one day bring.
*Jailbreaking may void your Apple warranty. Do so at your own risk. Always back-up your device with iTunes prior to Jailbreaking. iRepair & iCustomize has no affiliation with PanGu.
